Bands Ready to Rock for Scarsdale Teen Center

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Several Scarsdale bands are getting ready to rock in support of the Scarsdale Teen Center.

The sixth annual Adult Night of Rock fundraiser, hosted by 107.1 The Peak's Jimmy Fink, will be held Saturday, May 5, at Vintage Bar, 171 Main St., White Plains. The music starts at 7:30 p.m., and there will be raffles and a silent auction.

The bands all have ties to Scarsdale. The DB6 features Dan Bernstein, Dave Cannon, Dan Groner, Mike Pearson, Steve Rabinowitz and Eric Wayne; We Stole The Kids band members include August Coupe, Jess Ingui, Erich Sherman, Ziya Smallens, Scott Jacobson and Brett Schneider, and Skyfactor is Bob Ziegler, Jon Rubin, Cliff Rubin and Jason Taylor.

Skyfactor's guitarist Jon Rubin graduated from Scarsdale High with the Class of '91, following his brother, Cliff (who plays bass) who was in the Class of '83. Singer Ziegler is a Larchmont native and drummer Taylor is a New Rochelle resident.

The Rubins were half of the early '90s Scarsdale-based band Sky Blues, which was "born in the SHS halls and went on to release five albums on an indie label and toured colleges and venues across the country," Jon Rubin said. "So Scarsdale and music have been in our blood for a very long time and the village was always very supportive of our musical endeavors over the years, which we always appreciated."

"We both grew up in Scarsdale and had a great experience there, so agreeing to lend our time and talents for the Scarsdale Teen Center was a no-brainer for us when asked to participate," Rubin said. "We also have a lot of former classmates and friends who have moved back to Scarsdale, so it's nice to know that my friend's kids and their friends will have access to something as great as the STC years from now, thanks to events like this which help keep it going."

The DB6 is a new band whose members honed their skills in two other bands. Cannon (guitar), Groner (guitar), Pearson (drums) and Wayne (bass) have played with The Del Bocas, a Scarsdale-based band that performs regularly at local clubs, charity events and private parties. Dan Bernstein (keyboards/vocals) and Rabinowitz (guitar) have played together since their college days in the Boston-based band Rave. Bernstein plays with The Del Bocas as well.

Cannon and Bernstein graduated from Scarsdale High School in the late '90s and became reacquainted within the past few years to help create The Del Bocas.

Tickets are $45 in advance $55 at the door.
