'Adventure Rabbi' to Speak at Scarsdale Temple

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Rabbi Jamie Korngold, known as the Adventure Rabbi, will join with the Westchester Reform Temple community for Friday services at 6:15 p.m. May 4.

Korngold's talk will "bring the outside in" during the service in the temple's LEED Silver Certified Sanctuary. The rabbi will also lead a series of hikes Saturday morning, May 5.

Korngold, who was raised in Scarsdale, is an ordained Reform rabbi and serves as chief spiritual officer of the Adventure Rabbi program. She has been nationally recognized for her work combining Judaism and nature, using a mix of nature and technology to reach out to the unaffiliated Jewish population.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in natural resources from Cornell University, has her Rabbinic Ordination from Hebrew Union College, and has more than 20 years of experience as an outdoor guide and group leader. She is the author of four books: "God in the Wilderness: Rediscovering the Spirituality of the Outdoors with the Adventure Rabbi" (DoubleDay, 2008), "Breakfast in the Sukkah" (Kar-Ben, 2011), "Sadie and the Big Mountain" (Kar-Ben, 2012), and "Ori and the Super Shamus" (Kar-Ben, 2012).
