SCARSDALE, N.Y. Supercharged engines and chrome rims will line the streets of Scarsdale's village center on Sunday as the Scarsdale Concours dElegance returns to the village for its ninth straight year.
The popular car show, which features some of the finest American and European automobiles both new and old will have a public viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Following the viewing, a panel of judges with positions in the automobile industry will determine the winners in more than 30 categories.
The Scarsdale Concours dElegance was founded by Evan Cygler and Denis OLeary III, classmates at the Windward School in White Plains, as well as at Scarsdale, when they were still teenagers.
According to the events website, the show was created for three reasons: to showcase Scarsdale students as part of a constructive and giving community, the founders passion for new and vintage cars, and to raise large sums of money for local charities.
The event has grown since its roots in 2003, and, in the past six years, the Scarsdale Concours dElegance has raised more than $220,000 for Westchester County charities.
Though Cygler, a graduate of the University of Arizona, and OLeary, a graduate of Washington and Lee University, are pursuing their careers, Ben Hasson and Sam Fried have assumed the mantle and will run the event this year.
Residents who want to see a sea of classic and current cars take over the village of Scarsdale are encouraged to visit the popular show.
