Pamela Devenport, author of "Cellostart," has utilized her experience and expertise to guide hundreds of musicians; she is a respected Suzuki cello workshop and institute teacher.

Devenport, who will be making her seventh appearance at the Hoff-Barthelson, will begin her lesson at the music school at 25 School Lane, at 2 p.m. Dec. 12. She will continue teaching the cello students for eight additional classes - the first of the 2015-16 season. The public is welcome to attend the Master Class series for free.

For more information, call 914-723-1169, e-mail hb@hbms.org or visit www.hbms.org.

  • Alan Harris, cello
  • Meng-Chieh Liu, piano
  • Marin Mazzie, voice
  • Lucie Robert, violin
  • Alan Kay, clarinet
  • Tara Helen O’Connor, flute
Members of the New York Philharmonic also will be leading classes as part of the series.

Students taking the master classes will, after careful preparation, perform for and then receive feedback and guidance from a master teacher who often challenges the student to think in new and critical ways about the piece they’ve prepared.

The Hoff-Barthelson Music School Master Class series is made possible, in part, by ArtsWestchester with support from Westchester County Government and the New York State Council on the Arts, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the state Legislature.
