Lwvs Announces Annual Fall Food For Thought Luncheon

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- The Scarsdale League of Women Voters is scheduled to host its annual Fall Food For Thought on Oct. 18. 

The the public luncheon meeting is set for 11:45 a.m. Oct. 18 at the Scarsdale Golf Club, according to a press release. The luncheon is set to host speaker David J. Kennedy, the Chief of the Civil Rights Unit, US Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York. Kennedy is scheduled to discuss "the nature and scope of the federal Voting Rights Act, and its relationship with state election laws," according to the release. 

As Civil Rights chief, Kennedy oversees litigation enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Housing Act, the Voting Rights Act, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act, the Civil Rights of Institutionalized Persons Act and other statutes, according to the press release.
