Ideal Conceal is working to receive a patent for the invention, which folds into the palm of your hand and can be slipped into a back pocket, according to reports.

Schumer called for an investigation from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Department of Justice.

“The latest ‘great idea’ for a concealed gun should come with 9-1-1 on speed dial because this iPhone gun is a disaster waiting to happen,” Schumer said in a statement. “Imagine a scenario in which a police officer is not able to tell whether a violent criminal is pulling out a gun or an iPhone.”

The company, which says its invention is "ingeniously designed," intends to have the gun on the market by the middle of this year at a cost of $395, according to CNN.

Kirk Kiellberg, a gun developer with Ideal Conceal, said he's already received 2,500 emails from people inquiring about the weapon, according to CNN.
