A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for much of the region as a new round of storms is expected to roll through with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes possible.

The watch went into effect Monday, July 18 at 1:45 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m.

Wind gusts of between 60 and 70 miles per hour are possible during storm activity, along with small hail, thunder and frequent lightning.

"Heavy downpours are likely in storms, which could lead to urban and poor drainage flooding and possibly isolated flash flooding," the National Weather Service said.
