A Northern Westchester businessman and former public official has been sentenced for running a "scan and skip" scheme with an accomplice that net them nearly $15,000 worth of merchandise from Home Depot, authorities announced.

Colin John Rice of Mohegan Lake, a gifted musician and writer, died on Friday, May 4.
He is now at rest after years of struggle.
Colin was predeceased by his mother Janet. He is survived by his father John, his brother Owen and grandmother Margie.
Colin is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Colin was a beautiful soul. Sadly, his life was cut short before his full potential was realized.
