A police department in Westchester has been found to engage in a pattern of excessive force, illegal arrests, and unconstitutional searches, federal officials announced.
The findings, which centered on the Mount Vernon Police Department, were revealed on Thursday, Dec. 12, following a comprehensive investigation by the US Department of Justice.
According to the DOJ, the investigation uncovered numerous issues, including:

Apparent Murder-Suicide Under Investigation In Westchester
An apparent early morning domestic murder-suicide is under investigation in Westchester.
It happened around 5:50 a.m. Sunday, June 5 in Mount Vernon on South 14th Ave.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found two people dead from gunshot wounds, police said.
Three minors were located at a family member's home, said authorities.
Upon arrival, two persons were located, deceased, from apparent gunshot wounds, authorities said.
Three minors, who were in the home at the time, have been re-located to a nearby residence with family members.

Covid-19: Here Are New Groups Who Can Now Get Vaccines In NY
New groups of New Yorkers are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine - though it could be some time until they are able to “get the needle into their arms.”
Beginning on Monday, Jan. 11, New York entered “phase 1B” of the state’s vaccination program, which will permit new groups to receive the oft-talked about vaccine.
In phase 1B, first responders, corrections officers, teachers, transit workers, and the general population over the age of 75 are eligible to receive their first doses.
