Tappan Zee Bridge Toll Set To Increase: Here's When, How Much Drivers crossing the new Tappan Zee Bridge will soon face a higher toll, according to the New York State Thruway Authority. The increase will go into effect on Wednesday, Jan. 1, with a 50-cent hike to the base NY E-ZPass toll rates and tolls-by-mail that began in 2024 and will continue each year through 2027, when it hits $7.75. The annual price increase means E-Z pass users will begin paying $6.75 on New Year's Day. Westchester Tightens Road Repaving Standards To Stop 'Patch Jobs' To address incomplete road repairs left behind by private companies, Westchester County will be enforcing new legislation that raises repaving standards.  In an announcement on Wednesday, Oct. 30, Westchester County Executive George Latimer revealed that he signed into law a new amendment to Chapter 813 of the Westchester County Laws involving repaving on county roads by private contractors. Tragic Mianus Bridge Collapse Along I-95 Marks 35th Anniversary On this day in 1983, a part of the Mianus River Bridge collapsed.  Three people were killed and three others were seriously injured.  At about 1:30 a.m., on June 28, 1983, a 100-foot span of Interstate 95 in Greenwich collapsed into the Mianus River in one of the most infamous American bridge disasters of the 20th century.  A car and two tractor-trailers careened over the edge of I-95.
