Former Fire Chief Of Hudson Valley Department Dies: Had 'Legacy Of Service' A Hudson Valley community is mourning the loss of a former fire chief who spent nearly his entire life serving the public. The Mahopac Fire Department in Putnam County announced the death of its former chief, Edward J. Scott, on Sunday, Oct. 8.  In addition to serving as the former chief, Scott had also served as the past President and Chairman of the Mahopac Board of Fire Commissioners.
