Westchester Municipality To Get $10M Through NY Revitalization Initiative
A pair of Hudson Valley communities have become the latest to be awarded millions to revitalize their downtown spaces and grow the economy. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that both Ossining in Northern Westchester and Haverstraw in Rockland County have been awarded a $10 million Downtown Revitalization (DRI) award. Construction Starts On New $51 Million Housing Development In Westchester
Construction has begun on a new affordable housing complex in Northern Westchester with 82 energy-efficient apartments. According to Governor Andrew Cuomo's office, work on the $51 million dollar development in downtown Peekskill at 645 Main Street began on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The project is a part of his five-year, $20 million dollar affordable housing plan, which began in 2016 and is carried out by New York State Homes and Community Renewal. Westchester City Official Facing Charges For Physical Altercation With Security Guard
A city official is facing charges after an alleged physical altercation in a downtown New Rochelle elevator. City Development Commissioner Luiz Aragon was arrested and charged with second-degree harassment dating back to an incident on Friday, Oct. 25 in Trump Plaza, where he lives. Aragon allegedly was caught on camera shouting at a security guard delivering newspapers. He is scheduled to be arraigned in New Rochelle City Court on Tuesday, Oct. 29. As the city continues a transformative downtown revitalization effort, New Rochelle officials have reached an agreement to “dramatically transform” downtown with the development of a new 24-story luxury hotel that will be the first of its kind in the lower Hudson Valley.
