A man faces numerous charges after allegedly stealing catalytic converters from vehicles throughout the Hudson Valley and Connecticut, including one that was parked at a high school, police said. The arrest stemmed from an incident that happened on Thursday, March 23 around 3 p.m., when a Putnam County sheriff's deputy assigned as a school resource officer at Putnam Valley High School was told that a vehicle parked in the school's lot had a catalytic converter stolen from it. Following the mass school shooting in Parkland, Florida last month, education officials in Bronxville will increase police presence after meeting with a security firm to complete a safety audit of the district. The Bronxville Police Department is increasing their presence and patrols around local schools in the wake of the fatal shooting at a Florida high school earlier this week. In a letter to parents, Bronxville Schools Superintendent Roy Montesano said that there would be an increased police presence around schools, and there will be officers conducting walkthroughs of the buildings as a precaution.
