Alexandra Bennett received the award after demonstrating "both athletic and academic excellence while playing an active role in the community as well," according to a notice from the Rye City School District. Alexandra plays field hockey and lacrosse and is the captain of the Girls Varsity Field Hockey Team coached by Emily Fitzgerald, according to the notice.

"She has been an instrumental player, helping the team withhold its undefeated 4-0 season," representatives with the school district said in the notice. "She is also one of the Rye Athletics Advisory Council’s four student members. Alexandra excels academically as well; she is a member of the National Honor Society, takes a number of AP courses, tutors middle school students, and is a recipient of the College of the Holy Cross Book Award."

Alexandra also coaches youth field hockey at the Rye Recreation Department and volunteers for the Carver Center’s Dinner at Noon meal program, according to the release.
