RYE, N.Y. -- Frank Alvarez, Rye superintendent of schools, has asked the city manager and Rye police commissioner to review traffic patterns and safety near Osborn Elementary School.
The request follows Daily Voice articles last week that reported traffic jams caused by early dismissal on Dec. 9 and adults walking children across Boston Post Road at Sonn Drive on Dec. 11 where there is no crosswalk or traffic signal.
Sarah Derman, public information officer for Rye City School District, said that Alvarez made calls to City Manager Frank Culross and Police Commissioner William Pease "recommending that all entities get together to discuss a possible solution."
On Thursday, Lt. Scott Craig, a spokesman for the Rye Police Department, said, "There are discussions for a meeting next month that will include the city manager, city planner, city engineer and school officials to discuss the Osborn school traffic."
