Assuming Clinton, a former U.S. senator representing New York, secures the nomination during next month's Democratic Party Convention, she would be the nation's first female presidential candidate on the general election ballot. Republican Donald Trump is expected to be his party's presidential candidate.
U.S. Rep. Nita Lowey, D-Harrison, said, "Hillary Clinton made history (Tuesday) night, and I'll work hard to make sure she makes history again in November."
Lowey, who represents Westchester and Rockland counties, said, "She has the experience to lead and a vision for a brighter future for all Americans."
During Clinton's campaign visit to SUNY Purchase in March, Lowey introduced Clinton, as reported here by Daily Voice.
New York Senate Democratic Leader Andrea Stewart-Counsins of Yonkers also shared her joy about Clinton's successes in Tuesday's primaries to clinch the nomination.
"I am so proud of my friend, Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic Party for achieving this historic milestone for our country."
"As presumptive nominee, Hillary Clinton is an example to millions of little girls who dream of one day becoming President of the United States," Stewart-Counsins said. "Her dedication to service and her achievements as a U.S. Senator and Secretary of State have demonstrated that Hillary Clinton is ready to lead our nation forward as our next President. I applaud Hillary Clinton on her historic achievement and look forward to her breaking the highest glass ceiling in just a few short months."
While introducing Clinton at SUNY Purchase before New York's primary election in April, Lowey said, "In New York, we know that Hillary Clinton doesn’t just fight the tough battles. She wins them."
Lowey continued, "It’s crystal clear she has the experience to lead on the most pressing issues affecting our families."
