Is this what the “me- first” culture has become?
Just because we don’t like something, can we threaten, abuse and ignore our brothers and sisters? Why don’t these clowns just hold their collective breaths until they all turn blue?
When terrorists attacked nine years ago, their stated intention was to unleash a disease that ate our culture from the inside out, destroying the economy and, eventually, these United States of America. Things keep going this way, they just might get their wish.
Terrorists of our own culture have been around as long as the Republic itself. But we’re seeing rebellion of a kind that is new to several generations.
And if you consult the sociologists, they’ll tell you that these events often serve as a “call to action” for stupider, angrier and sometimes more dangerous imitators.
It’s one thing for a pig-headed pharmacist to refuse to carry morning-after pills. It’s another for a pea-brained urologist who doesn’t like national health-care reform to tell patients who voted for President Obama to seek care elsewhere.
I don’t want to hear about free speech. And I don’t care if political preference isn’t legally protected the same as race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability. We’re talking moral obligation here, doc.

In fact, as the Orlando Sentinel reports:
In his waiting room, Cassell also has provided his patients with photocopies of a health-care timeline produced by Republican leaders … The doctor put a sign above the stack of copies that reads: “This is what the morons in Washington have done to your health care. Take one, read it and vote out anyone who voted for it.”
It gets worse: A spokewoman for the Florida Medical Association emphasized to the Sentinel that “physicians are extended the same rights to free speech as every other citizen in the United States.”
Bruce Springsteen can rile people by dragging politics onto the stage, but he’s under no obligation to protect the paying customers from harm. If a medical board doesn’t yank this guy’s license pronto — after fully investigating first, of course — then something’s really wrong here.
