Joseph Salvatore Cirillo, 86, Of Rye, Korean War Veteran

RYE, N.Y. - Joseph Salvatore Cirillo of Rye died Nov. 2. He was 86.

Cirillo was born Dec. 12, 1926, in Fabrizia, Calabria, Italy, son of Francesco and Rosina Cirillo. Prior to coming to the United States he was a certified teacher at the age of 17 in Italy. He served during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952 as a sergeant first class in the U.S. Army. Following his military career he worked for the Sanborn Map Co. in Pelham, retiring in 1996 as president. He was a former officer of the Calabria Society in New Rochelle.

Cirillo is survived by his children, Rosanna Phillips and Frank Cirillo; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ada; son, Joseph; and brother Anthony.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Graham Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Church of the Resurrection.
