John Guy Carolin, 99, Of Rye

RYE, N.Y. – John Guy Carolin, of Rye, died Tuesday, June 30. He was 99.

Carolin was born Oct. 1, 1915, in New York City to Louis Guy and Kathryn Reid Carolin, growing up in Manhattan and Amityville.

He graduated from Fordham University. He served in North Africa and Europe in World War II and was awarded the Legion of Merit. After he returned home, he managed the B. Altman & Co. store in White Plains for more than 35 years.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; five children, Kathy Carolin Larsen of Washington, D.C.; Beth Carolin Martin and her husband, Rob of Southport, N.C.; Christopher Reid Carolin and his wife, Cathie of Lake Forest, Ill.; Jeffrey Hare Carolin of Stamford, Conn.; and Valentine Mott Carolin and his wife, Ann of Atlanta, and eight grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, John Jr.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on July 11 at Resurrection Church in Rye, and the Coveleigh Club will hold a ceremony to follow.
