Evelyn Kelly Shannahan, 97, Of Rye

RYE, N.Y. -- Evelyn Kelly Shannahan, a resident of Rye, has died. She was 97.

She ran a thriving painting business with her sons and continued to pursue her higher education at Manhattanville College in Purchase, N.Y.

She is survived by her husband, Cornelius Evans (Neil) Shannahan and five of her children: Constance Gardner of Far Hills, N.J., Regina Palumbo of New York, N.Y., C. Kevin Shannahan of Lake Forest, Ill., Gregory Shannahan of Mendham, N.J. and Timothy Shannahan of San Diego, Calif. 

She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Deidre Shannahan.

A private viewing will be held at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville, N.Y. on Saturday Feb. 20, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at the Church of St, John and St. Mary (Little Church) in Chappaqua, N.Y. 

There will be a brief funeral service at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y. at 11:30 a.m.
