Forest Ave. In Rye

RYE, N.Y. -- No one was injured Wednesday in a fire that destroyed a Forest Avenue house battled by firefighters from three departments.

Firefighters from Rye, Harrison and the Town of Mamaroneck responded, with the first units on the scene within two minutes after the  blaze was called in at 3:24 p.m.

Lt. James Dianni, the Rye fire inspector, said the fire was under control by approximately 3:50 p.m.

The fire was confined to the wood-frame two-story residence, where it had spread to both floors and the attic.

Dianni said he believes the fire was accidental and the cause was most likely electrical in nature.

“There was extensive damage,” said Dianni. “I would say it’s close to a total loss.”
