The spill occurred when a 3-inch main was broken during excavation work at 1 Manursing Way.

According to the DEC, the contractor there had to temporarily pump the sewage to a storm drain.

The Westchester Country Club is at 1 Manursing Way.

While the break was fixed in less than an hour, about 100 gallons of sewage escaped into the ocean.

The public area potentially affected by the spill was listed by the DEC as the bathing beach owned by the Westchester Beach Club.
