The community forum will be hosted by the Rye Town Park Commission. Members of the public will be able to share their views on the operations of the park in 2012 and changes that they would like to see implemented in 2013.
Previous meetings have each attracted more than 150 participants. The park implemented several changes over the seasons in response to community concerns about safety and the environment, according to commission Chairman Joseph Carvin.
This past year, higher fees were implemented for non-residents, beach access fees for permit holders were eliminated, and automatic vehicle counters were installed in an effort to ensure accurate income records and staff management.
This past year, Rye Town Park was host to several community events, including a series of seven free concerts, an outdoor movie, "Tango by the Beach" dancing on Thursdays and an outdoor production of Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing."
The event will be co-sponsored by the Friends of Rye Town Park and Rye City's Rye Town Park Advisory Committee. It will be held at 10:30 a.m.April 27 at the Damiano Center, 281 Midland Ave.
