RYE, N.Y. Playland Amusement Park held its 84th annual opening day Saturday as children, parents, couples and families descended on the park adjacent to the Long Island Sound.
The day began with a parade led by the Port Chester High School Marching Band accompanied by local dignitaries. With cheaper admission than the other days of the year, the parking lot was filled with cars as people gathered to share the sunny day with friends and family.
Playland charges $30 for unlimited rides daily, with juniors (under 48 inches) paying $20. Westchester residents are eligible for a $5 discount for rides, while admission with no rides is free for residents. Westchester County offers a season pass for $95 and a spectator pass for $35.
