Bestselling Thriller Author Reads at Rye Library

RYE, N.Y. -- More chairs had to be brought out as people came into the conference room at the Rye Free Reading Room Wednesday night to listen to author Andrew Gross read."He is a great speaker," said Purchase resident Elizabeth Schaper, "The way he reads passages really puts you in the scene."Andrew Gross' latest book Eyes Wide Open is a novel based on his real-life experiences of the suicide of his nephew and an encounter with Charles Manson, who was associated with Gross' brother before committing his infamous crimes. His fictional account of these experiences explores their possible connection to each other.Gross has co-authored six books with suspense writer James Patterson and written five of his own novels.As a Purchase resident, Gross has many friends in Rye and insisted on giving a reading at the Rye Free Reading Room, where he has given readings before."I always like coming here, it's a familiar place," said Gross.
