What's Happening in Rye This Weekend

RYE, N.Y. -- Indoor farmer's markets, outdoor nature walks and family garden workshops headline this weekend's event listings as we inch further into spring in Rye.

Friday

- Fun Club Flick "Hop," 3:30 p.m.

The Rye Free Reading Room's Fun Club is holding a special screening of the film "Hop" as part of the library's school break programming. The film centers on E.B., the Easter Bunny’s teenage son who is determined to become a drummer in a rock ‘n’ roll band. The Rye Free Reading Room is located next to city hall off the Boston Post Road in Rye.

Saturday

- Into the Field at the Rye Nature Center, 9:15 a.m.

Join an RNC naturalist for a guided hike into our own forest to explore the different natural attractions. Pre-registration is required but the program is free and open to the public.

- Rye Brook Indoor Farmer's Market, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. 

The Village of Rye Brook's Indoor Farmer's Market will be open on Saturday inside the AJP Senior Center located on Garibaldi Place in Rye Brook. The market features over 12 vendors including Gaia’s Breath FarmGuyank Brand Sweet & Hot Pepper Sauces, Healthway FarmsHummingbird Ranch and Big Girl Baking.

- Drop in Crafts and Preschool Story Time, 11 a.m.

Children listen to age-appropriate stories and participate in fun games, rhymes and other activities to develop pre-literacy skills and an interest in books and reading at the Rye Free Reading Room.

Sunday

- Family Gardening Workshop: Gardening Like a Forest, 12:30 p.m. or 3 p.m.

Bring the whole family to the Rye Nature Center for an hour and a half of hands-on gardening. These Rye YMCA-sponsored workshops will focus on the health, nutritional and ecological benefits of gardening at home.
