For a group of ladies in Rye, coming to the library is about being with one another while creating things for children in need.
The group holds a knitting session every Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Rye Free Reading Room. Together they knit blankets to donate to Project Linus, a national non-profit organization that distributes blankets to children in hospitals, shelters and social service agencies within the United States.
Although they like to knit for charity, the session is open to anyone who would like to learn the craft or would just enjoy the company and conversation.
"We find it socially satisfying," said Rye resident Barbara Anderson. "But it's nice because you're making something for charity."
