RYE, N.Y. -- Mark Almassy and Tera Linsey decided that they wanted a more natural setting for their wedding and knew they would have to find a place outside New York City, where they live together in Brooklyn. "We're both from California," said Almassy. "So we wanted to find a place that was a little bit more like home." About three months go the couple started looking for places where they could have their wedding, doing research online. They came across the Wainwright House in Rye and knew it was the right place. "It's really beautiful, there's lots of tree and it's right on the water," said Almassy. The couple came to Rye Saturday with Linsey's parents, who were visiting from California for the three-day weekend. They wanted them to see the place where they would become husband and wife.
For Linsey it was important to have her wedding in an outdoor setting, away from tall buildings and crowded streets. "It's a little more special because you get to put more into planning it," Linsey said. "Instead of using what's already there." Where are some other ideal places to have a wedding in Rye?
