What's Happening In Rye This Weekend

RYE/PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – An end-of-summer movie at the library, the Rye Farmers Market and a recycling collection sponsored by the Port Chester High School Band are some of the events on tap in Rye and Port Chester this Labor Day weekend.  

Friday, Aug. 31

Rye Free Reading Room’s Dream Big Summer Fun Flick: 3:30 Join the Rye Free Reading Room every week for books, movies and crafts for ages 5 and up. This week’s movie is “The Secret World of Arrietty” rated G. The members of the Clock family are 4-inch-tall people who live anonymously in another family’s residence. Free. Rye Free Reading Room, 1061 Boston Post Road.

Finale Fireworks at Rye Playland: 9:15 p.m. Fireworks display over Long Island Sound. Admission is free. Parking is $5 and $1 for senior citizens with a Westchester County Parks Pass. Saturday, Sept. 1

Sunday, Sept. 2

Rye Farmers Market: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. In the parking lot behind the Purchase Street stores at 9 Theodore Fremd Ave., Rye. 

Port Chester High School Band Association Recycling Collection: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Donate your soda, beer and water bottles to the band’s fundraising program, where 100 percent of the bottle and can deposits go directly back into supporting the band program. Port Chester High School Main Teachers parking lot, One Tamarack Road, Port Chester.
