Nature, Food Events Coming To Westchester County Parks

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The parks of Westchester County will host several events from June 4-7.

June 4

Kensico Dam Plaza: Top Westchester restaurants will compete at the Burger and Beer Blast from 6-10 p.m. Admission is $65 or $50 for members of Friends of Westchester County Parks, Inc. 

June 6

Muscoot Farm: Attendees can practice wildlife tracking from 8:30-10 a.m.

Read Wildlife Sanctuary: Volunteers can assist with trail maintenance, beach cleanup and the removal of invasive plants for Volunteer Work Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees can learn what is happening in nature during this season at the Summer Ecology Walk from 1-2:30 p.m. 

Kensico Dam Plaza: Drinks, entertainment and food from Westchester restaurants will be featured at the Grand Tasting Village from noon until 6 p.m. Admission is $75 or $60 for Friends of Westchester County Parks, Inc.

Cranberry Lake Preserve: From 1-2:30 p.m., hikers can search for clues for natural items in the Nature Scavenger Hunt and return to the nature center for a prize. 

Lenoir Preserve: The camouflage installment of the Awesome Adaptations Series will inform on how different species learn to use camouflage to survive in the wild. The event is from 1-2:30 p.m. 

June 6 and 7

Muscoot Farm: The works of Robert Uricchio will be on display in the Main House Gallery from noon to 4 p.m. 

June 7

Bronx River Parkway: Bicycle Sundays will run from the Westchester County Center in White Plains to Yonkers' Scarsdale Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is open to all bicyclists, walkers, joggers and participants with strollers.

Muscoot Farm: The farm will host a farmers market from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. with fresh produce, cheese and other items from more than 20 unique vendors. 

Cranberry Lake Preserve: Frogs ‘n’ Dogs will feature ponding, crafts and a bonfire from noon to 3 p.m.

Playland Park: The LPGA Family Fun Zone will feature fun for golfers and their families from noon to 7 p.m.

Trailside Nature Museum: Stream Study for Kids will offer an in-depth look at the wildlife in the streams of Ward Pound Ridge Reservation.

Marshlands Conservancy: Poetry exhibit participants can pick up their works at the closing reception from 2-5 p.m.
