RYE, N.Y. - Berj Yeretzian and Tania Rahal, both originally from Lebanon, have brought a bit of their home country to Rye with the opening of their new vegetarian restaurant, Rosemary and Vine .

The light-filled eatery -- it opened Oct. 9 -- is all about "delicious and flavorful Mediterranean food that is healthy and naturally lends itself to vegetable- centric cuisine," explained Yeretzian.

That meanas diverse vegetarian cuisine from Morocco, Spain, Lebanon, France, Italy and the Middle East.

Proving to be popular so far: the Babaganoush, Turkish braised eggplant, and falafels. The menu will change periodically based on the availability of seasonal vegetables and produce.

The two Rye residents said they saw an opportunity when the space at the corner of Purchase and Locust opened up (it was formerly a bagel shop).

"Most people’s schedules don’t allow for the time needed to prepare a healthy and declicious meal at home, especially when it’s vegetable based. So we take the time and skill needed to do that for them," said Yeretzian.

The eatery, with its soaring tin-plated ceiling, open kitchen and lots of reclaimed wood, is meant to offer diners food in "an elevated fast casual environment with cool music and an interesting selection of beers and wines," said Yeretzian.

This is the couple's first restaurant venture -- he previously worked at a boutique hedge fund, while Rahal's background is in event planning.

Being that they live in Westchester, local matters. Coffee is from Coffee Lab Roasters in Tarrytown. Wines, though mostly Mediterranean, also include some area options, while beers and hard cider are from the tristate area.

Rosemary and Vine is open for lunch and dinner and is located at 29 Purchase St., (914) 481-8660, .
