Fire Breaks Out At House Overlooking Hudson River A home with an expansive view of the Hudson River was damaged by a fire that started in the chimney chase, according to the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Department. The fire started around 12:10 a.m. Thursday at the home on Forest Avenue in Cortlandt, the department said.  Upon arrival, firefighters found an active fire visible from the wood chimney chase on the exterior of the home. With fire showing, a first alarm was issued.  Due to the home being setback from the roadway access to the fire hydrant, hose lines had to be stretched and firefighters had to utilize a 24-foot extension ladder whil…
