Con Ed Proposes Stiff Rate Hikes In Westchester, NYC
Just weeks after announcing a gas moratorium beginning in March, Con Edison has sought approval for new electricity and gas rates in 2020 that could see customers in Westchester and New York City paying nearly six percent more for services. State Police To Ramp Up DWI Patrols Over Super Bowl Weekend
The New York State Police Department is working alongside local departments across the state to increase DWI enforcement over Super Bowl weekend. The “STOP-DWI” campaign includes underage drinking enforcement, increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints in an effort to deter and identify impaired drivers. Funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, the campaign runs from Saturday, Feb. 2 until 2 4 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 4. New Rochelle High School Temporarily Evacuated When Steam Sparks Alarm
Some students in New Rochelle were forced out in the rain on Thursday morning when contractors working in the building made a mistake. The New Rochelle High School sent out an alert on Thursday afternoon to parents advising that there was an evacuation of the building at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, when an alarm went off. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of the area as a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain will cause travel difficulties overnight into Tuesday morning. Parts of the old Tappan Zee Bridge will go out with a bang - literally - now that explosives have been approved to help bring down part of the structure. Christmas has come early for travelers in New York, as all temporary lane closures for road and bridge construction projects has been suspended on state highways. New York Gov. State Attorney General Investigating Potential New TZB Safety Cover Up
An alleged safety coverup involving dozens of steel bolts holding together the new Tappan Zee Bridge is being investigated by the state Attorney General’s Office. Lost Hiker Found In Westchester
Police in Northern Westchester pulled out all the stops to track down a hiker who found himself lost in the woods. Members of the Bedford Police Department received a report at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18 from area resident Leroy Junker, who said he was lost on the trails of the Westmoreland Sanctuary. Police said that while investigating the lost man, they determined he was actually in the Arthur Butler Sanctuary, not the Westmoreland Sanctuary.
