DWI Arrests: Deputy Injured After Being Hit By Drunk Driver In Hudson Valley, Sheriff Says Several people face charges after driving drunk in the Hudson Valley, including a woman who struck a sheriff deputy's vehicle, authorities said.  The arrests happened in Putnam County between Friday, April 5, and Sunday, April 7, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Monday, April 8.  The first incident occurred on Friday, April 5 around 10:45 p.m., when a sheriff's deputy's vehicle was struck by another car that crossed into his lane while traveling north on Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley. Driver Escapes Injury After Hitting Pole, Flipping Vehicle On Route 22, Police Say A Hudson Valley man escaped injury after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole. The crash took place around 7:20 a.m., Friday, June 4, in Putnam County, on Route 22 in Patterson, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Byron R. Duarte Giron, age 23, of Dover, was driving a 2010 Mazda southbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole and overturned, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Route 22 has reopened. No charges will be filed in the case.

SPCA Investigating After Neglected Rabbit Found Abandoned In Hudson Valley SPCA officials in the Hudson Valley are investigating a potential case of animal cruelty after an apparently neglected rabbit was found abandoned in a box outside a Putnam County pet store. An abandoned young female Holland Lop domestic rabbit was discovered in a W.B. Mason box on Monday, Aug. 31 in front of the Pet Valu Store on Route 22 in Patterson when employees went to open the store. According to the SPCA, the rabbit showed signs of long-term neglect with its nails growing sideways and smelling of feces and urine. Three Cases Of Measles Confirmed In Putnam, More May Have Been Exposed The Putnam County Department of Health has confirmed three positive cases of measles and said others may have been exposed earlier this week. Two are Putnam residents and the third lives in Connecticut, said Susan Hoffner, health educator of the Putnam County Department of Health. The hometowns of the three were not released. Man Sentenced For Fatal Morphine-Impaired Route 22 Crash A 45-year-old Dutchess County man who was impaired by morphine when he crashed into another vehicle in 2015, killing a Kent woman, has been sentenced to one to three years in prison. Christopher Osborne Jr., 45, of Pawling, pleaded guilty in January to aggravated vehicular homicide for causing the crash that killed 63-year-old Jean Riccobon.
