Strong Winds Knock Out Power To Hundreds In Westchester
Thousands of residents in Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess are without power as wild winds continue whipping through the area. On Monday morning, Con Edison was reporting that there were 31 current outages in Westchester, as of 10:30 a.m., impacting 335 of their 348,198 customers who were left in the dark. NYSEG was reporting an additional 703 customers who were without power on Monday morning. Woman Struggles With Officers After Driving Drunk With Kids On Route 9, Police Say
A 36-year-old woman struggled with police after she was caught allegedly drinking and driving with two children in the car. New York State Police troopers stopped a motorist at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, when she committed a vehicle and traffic violation on Route 9 in Red Hook. A teen who hit two parked cars and then slammed into a building at Bard College was an "inexperienced" driver, police said. The incident took place 11 p.m. Tuesday when the Red Hook Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a ca into a building on Robbins Road at the college in Annandale-on-Hudson, Red Hook Police said. Police: Man Chokes Two, Including Child, In Hudson Valley Domestic Dispute
A 32-year-old man spent the night behind bars after allegedly abusing a child during a domestic incident in Dutchess County. State Police troopers in received a report of a domestic incident at approximately 9 p.m. on Monday night, prompting an investigation. That investigation determined that Red Hook resident Christopher Struse allegedly choked his first victim, who was reporting the crime, and a child under the age of 6 years old, during the struggle. Bicyclist Killed After Being Hit By Pickup Driver On Route 9W
A fatal accident involving a 33-year-old Dutchess County motorist whose pickup truck hit a bicyclist in Ulster County is under investigation, according to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office. The accident occurred around 6:20 p.m. Monday when Michale C. Brailey of Red Hook, who was driving his white 2013 Ford F-150 north on Route 9W when his pickup truck left the roadway and struck a bicyclist, the department said. Two men and two women have been arrested following an investigation into two drug overdoses the weekend of April 21, one of which resulted in a fatality in Dutchess County. Eight From Westchester Charged With DWI Over Presidents Day Weekend
Nearly two dozen area motorists were among those busted by State and local law enforcement agencies have made a concerted effort to curtail impaired drivers in the Hudson Valley as part of a drinking and driving crackdown throughout the state.
