Dive teams and first responders, including fire and police, from numerous departments spent hours searching for a man who was seen going underwater at an area lake and not resurfacing. The rescue effort began in Putnam County around 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 27, when members of the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Lake Oscawana for a reported drowning near Goose Rock. Fire Breaks Out At House Overlooking Hudson River
A home with an expansive view of the Hudson River was damaged by a fire that started in the chimney chase, according to the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Department. The fire started around 12:10 a.m. Thursday at the home on Forest Avenue in Cortlandt, the department said. Upon arrival, firefighters found an active fire visible from the wood chimney chase on the exterior of the home. With fire showing, a first alarm was issued. Crews Work For Hours To Battle Blaze That Razed Westchester House
All hands were on deck for several hours as crews worked to safely extinguish a blaze that razed a house in Northern Westchester. First responders were dispatched near the intersection of Jacobs Hill Road and East Main Street (Route 6) in Cortlandt shortly after 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, where there was a report of a structure fire.
