A Westchester County city's new manager ended up being quite a familiar face despite an extensive recruitment effort that spanned multiple states. In an announcement on Thursday, Oct. 31, New Rochelle officials revealed that Wilfredo Melendez was unanimously selected as the new City Manager and will begin serving on Sunday, Dec. 1. $115M Bridge Construction Project In Westchester Completed: 'Will Keep Travelers Safe'
A $115 million project to reconstruct a more-than-century-old bridge carrying a well-traveled route over a river in Westchester has finished, officials announced. After nearly four years, the reconstruction of the bridge carrying Route 1 over the Mamaroneck River in the Town of Mamaroneck has been completed, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Friday, Aug. 2. The mayor of one of Westchester’s largest cities is sounding the alarms and declaring a State of Emergency as the community contends with “gross negligence and dereliction of duty” of the city’s Comptroller. Westchester County is establishing a working group that will help dictate what schools will look like in the fall when they reopen amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. Dozens Of DPW Trucks Vandalized In Westchester Before Snowstorm
Department of Public Works employees received an unwelcome surprise on Tuesday morning when they went to go to work, and it wasn’t snow. Police are investigating vandalism at the Mount Vernon DPW garage after workers found that the city’s snowplows, salt, garbage and sewer trucks had been sabotaged overnight. The New Rochelle City Council has unanimously agreed to move forward with the proposed new Public Works Operation Center. City officials announced this week that they have reached the agreement to construct the new Public Works Operations Center - more commonly referred to as City Yard - in the ground level of the busy Home Depot/Costco complex at Nardozzi Place.
