Young Woman Jumps To Death From NY Viaduct, Motorist Heard Her Fall: MTA
A 24-year-old Hudson Valley woman jumped to her death from the Moodna Viaduct, which carries Metro-North Railroad's Port Jervis Line over the Moodna Creek early this week. Ryley S. Buononato, a resident of Amenia in Dutchess County, jumped around 2:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, according to an MTA spokesman. A motorist traveling on Otterville Road in Cornwall, where the viaduct is located, reported hearing an abnormal sound, the MTA said. 19: Here's When Latest Metro-North Schedule Change Starts
As ridership continues to plummet to historic lows amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the MTA announced it will once again be altering the schedule for Metro-North trains. Beginning on Monday, April 13, Metro-North will operate on an hourly schedule on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines during both the weekdays and weekends. The Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines will remain on Saturday schedules, with hourly service at some points of the day. Metro-North Fare Hikes Set To Take Effect
Some Metro-North riders will see their trips becoming more expensive as an announced MTA toll and fare increase takes effect on Sunday. A near 4 percent fare hike was approved by MTA officials earlier this year, though it won’t impact rides west of the Hudson on the Pascack Valley and Port Jervis lines. Those riders were reportedly spared due to a year fraught with disabled and canceled trains in the Hudson Valley. The new fares will kick in on Sunday, April 21.
