HazMat Team Called To Peekskill PD After Fentanyl Exposure Scare
The Peekskill Police Department was evacuated after several officers and an arrestee were potentially exposed to fentanyl in the booking area of the police station on Nelson Avenue. The incident took place around 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 6, when a white powdery substance, later identified as fentanyl, was "introduced" into the booking area, said Peekskill Police Lt. A man suspected of breaking into a Northern Westchester restaurant and stealing thousands of dollars worth of liquor has been charged with burglary and grand larceny, police say. New York State Police say Wade Scheuritzel Jr., 34, of Orchard Park in upstate New York forced his way into Redline Roadhouse on Albany Post Road in the town of Cortlandt on Saturday, July 13. Man Sentenced For Raping Teen In Westchester
A 38-year-old man will spend the better part of a decade behind bars after admitting to raping a teenager in Northern Westchester. William Arias-Abril, of Peekskill, has been sentenced to six years in state prison in Westchester County Court after pleading guilty to two counts of third-degree rape. He was sentenced to three years in state prison on each count, which will run consecutively. Suspect Admits To Defacing Newspaper With Hate Symbols In Westchester
Police have found the person who defaced a single copy of The Northern Westchester Examiner newspaper with hate symbols, according to the Examiner News. Once the person was identified and admitted writing the swastikas and KKK on the paper, the Peekskill Police department said the person could not be charged due to First Amendment rights, the Examiner said. Pedestrian Struck In Westchester Parking Garage
A pedestrian was struck in a busy parking garage in the area early Monday morning, according to police. The incident took place around 7:30 a.m. Nov. 26 when a motorist entered the James Street parking garage in Peekskill, turned a corner and failed to see a pedestrian, said Peekskill Police Det. Sgt. A drug trafficker who operated out of a Northern Westchester housing project for years has been sentenced to more than a decade behind bars. Edward Holliman has been sentenced to 135 months in prison for conspiring to distribute crack cocaine in Peekskill between 2013 and 2017 after pleading guilty on April 24. He must also forfeit $30,000 and will be subjected to five years of supervised release when he is released from prison. A second man has been implicated in the fatal shooting of a man in Northern Westchester last month, authorities announced on Wednesday. Shrub Oak resident Sean Deleon, 23, was arrested by the Peekskill Police Department and charged with second-degree murder for his alleged role into the shooting of 22-year-old Khalil Lyons in Peekskill on July 13. An 18-year-old Northern Westchester resident has been arrested for the shooting death of a man in July. Demetrius Bogan of Peekskill was arrested Friday following an exhaustive three-week investigation into the July 13 murder of Khalil Lyons, 22, of the Bronx, said Peekskill Chief of Police Don Halmy. The identity of a man shot and killed in broad daylight Friday afternoon in Northern Westchester has been released. The shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m. Friday at the 1200 block of Park Street in Peekskill, police said. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 22-year-old who had sustained a single gunshot wound.
