Woman Killed After Car Crashes Into Deer On Palisades Parkway
A 50-year-old woman was killed after the car she was traveling in hit a deer on the Palisades Parkway and slammed into several trees, leading to an hourslong closure of the southbound lanes. The crash, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. Thursday near Clarkstown, closed the southbound lanes for more than four hours as police investigated the incident, said New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel. Bicyclist Seriously Injured, Driver At Large In Hit-Run Incident With Box Truck
Police are searching for a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist seriously injured on Route 9W. The incident occurred just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Piermont when a bicyclist was struck by a large white box truck. The box truck left the scene southbound on Route 9W in the area of 660 Route 9W ( 9W and Broadway). The bicyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to Nyack Hospital Emergency Department by Piermont FD ambulance. Man Dies After Being Pulled From Home Fire
A man died early Wednesday after a fire ripped through his Pomona home. The fire was reported around 3:03 a.m. at 286 Quaker Road, according to Hillcrest Fire Company No. 1. When firefighters arrived on scene flames were spreading outside the back of the one-story house to the roof. They were also informed by neighbors there was a possibility of an occupant still in the home, the department said. Firefighters searched the home and found a 63-year-old man inside a bedroom. Friend's Alleged Punch Kills Man Outside Hudson Valley Bar
Two familiar families -- both coming from lines of first responders -- are now grieving following the death of a young man after authorities said he was knocked unconscious by his friend outside a Pearl River bar. Assault charges were expected to be upgraded to manslaughter against 21-year-old Douglas Guido of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, following the death of his friend, RJ Hess of Norwood in Bergen County. A 21-year-old Rockland County man has been charged in connection with slashing another man's throat at an after-prom celebration. New City Man Threatens Nyack Hospital Worker With Knife, Police Say
A New City man has been arrested for threatening a Nyack Hospital worker with a knife, according to Orangetown Police. Stephen A. Luccheses, 41, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. Monday after police responded to Nyack Hospital in regards to a report of a patient threatening staff, said Sgt. Joseph Sullivan. Hospital staff told police that Lucchese threatened a staff member with a knife and allegedly displayed the knife in a threatening manner, Sullivan said. An 80-year-old woman was killed during the height of Tuesday's severe storm when a tree slammed into the driver's side of her vehicle in Rockland County. The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday as the woman was driving south on Red Schoolhouse Road in the village of Chestnut Ridge during the storm when the tree toppled onto the roof of her car, said Ramapo Police Lt. A former Rockland County woman who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing her son lost a bid on Friday in the New York State Court of Appeals to have her murder conviction reviewed, according to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A.
