A Yale University student was sexually assaulted after waking up to find an unknown man pointing a gun at her. The incident took place around 2 a.m., Tuesday, May 9, on the 300 block of Elm Street in New Haven. Yale Police Chief Anthony Campbell said a graduate student was asleep in her residence when she awoke to an unknown male pointing a gun at her. An unidentified, violent, out-of-control man was apprehended by police after a lengthy police chase which included the man hitting six vehicles, including three state police cars on I-91 in the New Haven area, police said. Local law enforcement agencies are cautioning area residents to be on alert following several scams involving elderly individuals being taken advantage of by fraudsters posing as attorneys. Opportunistic scammers have been preying on the elderly around the country, posing as attorneys and demanding thousands of dollars in cash in bail or bond money for an alleged grandchild who they claim is in trouble.
