Mount Vernon Building Commissioner Charged With DWI After SUV Crash In New Rochelle
This story has been updated. The Mount Vernon building commissioner was busted for DWI at twice the legal limit after crashing his SUV, police said. Daniel Jones, 46, a Brooklyn resident, was arrested around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday after New Rochelle Police responded to a report of a crash in the parking lot of the Glen Island Center on Pelham Road, said New Rochelle Police Capt. Cosmo Costa. Officers found Jones in his 2017 Ford Explorer after he wrecked his vehicle, police said. Court Rules To Allow Westchester City To 'Tax Tech Giants'
T-Mobile has been ordered to pay property taxes on large cellular data transmission installations in a Westchester City, creating a new revenue stream. Chief Judge Janet DiFiore unanimously affirmed a decision by the New York Court of Appeals, which found that certain equipment such as cell towers are taxable in Mount Vernon. The decision will force T-Mobile to pay property taxes on several pieces of equipment, but could have wide-ranging implications moving forward. A star-studded guest list has been invited to participate in a “rally for reform” with students in Mount Vernon to end gun violence. The “Rally for Reform, March for Our Lives” event will be held beginning at noon on Saturday, March 3 at City Hall, where Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Thomas plans to rally with local students in advance of a bus trip to an anti-violence rally in Washington, D.C. later this month.
