Town Supervisor In Westchester To Run For State Assembly
A popular Republican lawmaker in Northern Westchester announced that he will be stepping away from his current position at the end of the year as he seeks a state Assembly seat. Yorktown Supervisor Matt Slater, age 36, who was re-elected for a second term in an uncontested election in November, says he will challenge for the seat currently held by Republican Kevin Byrne in the 94th State Assembly District this year. Three New Counties In Hudson Valley Receive Major Disaster Declaration For Ida
Additional relief is coming for some Hudson Valley victims of Tropical Depression Ida following a disaster declaration due to the damage caused by the storm. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that Orange, Putnam, and Rockland counties have become the latest locale to be approved for a “Major Disaster Declaration” to provide federal financial relief. Hudson Valley Counties OK High-Risk HS Sports To Start Play
Play ball! Top elected officials in the Hudson Valley convened and gave the green light for student-athletes to return to the field to begin playing “high risk” winter high school sports under strict guidance provided by the state. “High-risk” spots include football, wrestling, ice hockey, rugby, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, martial arts, and competitive cheer or dance. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has declared a state of emergency for four Hudson Valley counties as the state begins to recover from Tuesday’s storm that saw winds and rain take down trees and utility lines throughout the area.
