Ford Winter, Former Mamaroneck HS Swimming & Diving Coach, 85
Ford Winter was born on June 26, 1937 and passed away on November 18, 2022. He taught physical education and coached swimming and diving in the Mamaroneck Public Schools. Ford was particularly successful with his coaching of MHS divers, developing them into champions. In retirement from the Hommocks Middle School, Ford began to entertain on stage and in cabaret. He also began composing songs. Ford and his wife Neva moved to North Carolina, where he did miss his tugboat, the Richard B. Owen, and the Long Island Sound. Ford’s beloved …

Westchester School District Alerts Community Of Masturbating Man In Intersection
A student headed to school in Westchester reported to officials that he observed a man in a car masturbating near the building, the district announced. The Mamaroneck School District issued a notice to the community that a student walking to Hommocks Middle School at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24 advising that a student saw a man in a white car masturbating near the intersection of Boston Post Road and Hommocks Road. Middle School Threats Lead To Increased Security In Mamaroneck
Security has been beefed up following a string of threats that caused concern for students and staff in the Mamaroneck School District. Over the past several days, the district “has been challenged by three unrelated instances of alleged student threats to the safety of Hommocks Middle School," Schools Superintendent Robert Shaps said. The first threat came on Tuesday, June 11, when administrators at Hommocks were notified that a middle school student had threatened to harm classmates. Whooping Cough Case Reported At School In Westchester
A case of “whooping cough” has been reported at a Westchester middle school. School officials from the Mamaroneck School District issued an alert to parents warning that a student at Hommocks Middle School in Larchmont may have exposed other children to the disease. It is unclear if or when the child may have spread the infection to fellow students.
