A Hudson Valley man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed a vehicle into a utility pole, causing a fire on the road.
Officers in Rockland County responded to a fire on North Main Street in Hillcrest that broke out overnight between Friday, Nov. 18, and Saturday, Nov. 19, the Town of Ramapo Police Department reported.
Police found that a vehicle crashed into a utility pole, and a live wire caused a small fire on the roadway.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 35-year-old Haverstraw man, was the sole occupant, authorities said.

A 31-year-old man’s blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit to drive when he got behind the wheel of a car and crashed into a home in the region, authorities said.
Emergency crews in Ulster County were called shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, with reports of a car crash at a home in Saugerties, located on Highway 212.
When officers arrived, they found a 1990 Chevrolet van protruding from the home’s bushes, Saugerties police said.

Hudson Valley Man Busted Driving Drunk Twice In 2 Hours, Police Say
A Hudson Valley resident was stopped for suspected drunk driving not once, but twice in a span of just two hours, authorities said.
Troopers in Ulster County stopped Edwin Mendez, age 29, of New Paltz, at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, July 31, as he drove on Southside Avenue in New Paltz.
Troopers had noticed the man’s 2013 Audi S4 violating several vehicle and traffic laws, according to New York State Police.
During their conversation, troopers determined that Mendez did not have a valid driver’s license and was impaired by alcohol, police said.

A 29-year-old man is facing felony charges after police said he drove while intoxicated in Westchester County and shoved a trooper against a patrol car, causing damage.
Troopers stopped a vehicle on I-95 in Larchmont for vehicle and traffic violations at about 11:10 p.m. on Friday, June 24, according to New York State Police.
The driver, identified as Philip Thompson, of New Rochelle, was found to be intoxicated, police said.

Westchester Man Sentenced For 'Heartbreaking' DWI Crash That Killed Friend, Prosecutor Says
A 21-year-old Northern Westchester man has been sentenced to six years in prison for causing the death of a friend while driving impaired, authorities said.
Anthony Lorenz, of Ossining, must serve a little over five years of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina in New Jersey.
