Hit-Run Victim Chases Suspect From Westchester Until Cops Arrive, Police Say
A Northern Westchester man who tried driving away after rear-ending a car was instead arrested after the victim refused to let him escape and gave chase, police said. The incident happened in Putnam County on Sunday, April 2 around 4:30 p.m., when two vehicles were involved in a rear-end accident in Carmel at the intersection of Route 6 and Croton Falls Road and one of the vehicles tried to leave the scene, according to Carmel Police. SUV Crashes Into Local Firehouse In Hudson Valley
Police in the Hudson Valley are investigating after a woman drove an SUV into the front of a firehouse. The incident took place in Orange County around 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the village of Chester on Main Street near Route 94. The woman, whose license was suspended, was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the village of Chester Police said. Lane Closure Scheduled On Hutchinson River Parkway In Westchester County
Lane closures have been scheduled on the Hutchinson River Parkway for several days to allow contracting crews to continue construction activities along the roadway in Westchester. The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) announced that motorists can expect single-lane closures in both directions between Exit 8 (Cross County Parkway) in New Rochelle and Exit 6 (East Lincoln Ave) in Mount Vernon/Pelham. NY May End Suspending Driver's Licenses Over Traffic Tickets
Currently in New York, driver's licenses are automatically suspended if you forget to show up for an appearance in traffic court. And two-thirds of all license suspensions are due to unpaid tickets or failing to appear in court. That would change under proposed state legislation. A recent study by the Driven By Justice Coalition, a group of nonprofit criminal and economic justice advocates, found that most suspensions involve drivers who are minorities or poor. Police: BMW Driver Who Failed To Pay Child Support Busted For Suspended License, Registration
A man who had his driver’s license suspended for failing to pay child support was arrested in Scarsdale over the weekend when officers ran the license plates of his BMW and found the registration was suspended. A Scarsdale police officer on patrol on Fox Meadow Road shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12 found a 2018 BMW idling in the driveway of a local home. Motorist Busted Driving With 10 License Suspensions In Westchester
An early morning traffic stop in Scarsdale led to new charges for a motorist driving with nearly a dozen suspensions on his driver’s license throughout Westchester. While conducting traffic enforcement on Post Road, near the intersection of Huntington Avenue, an officer spotted a red Honda CRV going 52 mph in the posted 30 mph zone.
