The female officer, who the police are declining to identify, suffered injuries to her wrist and knee after she attempted to arrest a Yonkers teenager who was wielding a knife, police said. The 16-year-old was charged with menacing a police officer (a felony), assault in the second degree (a felony), resisting arrest (a misdemeanor) and criminal possession of a weapon (a misdemeanor).
The officer had been called to the scene after an altercation broke out between 30 people at the fast food establishment, police said. She will be working at a desk until she is cleared by doctors to return to full duty, which could take a couple weeks, police said.
