Ardsley Police were notified of the hit-and-run by an individual who came to the police department around 5:30 a.m. Monday morning, police said.
Officers responded and found a 55-year-old local woman in the roadway with serious injuries. The person who hit the woman had left the scene, police said.
Later Monday morning, a Dobbs Ferry woman called the police to report that her father, Joseph Barillo, 75, of Dobbs Ferry, had hit the woman. Dobbs Ferry Police responded and notified Ardsley Police, police said.
Ardsley police arrested and charged Barillo with leaving the scene of an accident, resulting in personal injury, police said.
The woman was taken to Westchester Medical Center where she remains in serious condition, Ardsley police said.
The Ardsley Police were assisted by Dobbs Ferry Police and the Westchester County Police Reconstruction Unit.
Barillo was released on his own recognizance.
