DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- A 17-year-old Dobbs Ferry High School student who allegedly made comments about a student in possession of a gun was arrested and charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Third Degree and Disorderly Conduct (violation) on Sept. 26.

According to a report by Dobbs Ferry Police, the department received a phone call at 3:02 p.m. on Sept.  26 from a school staff member reporting that a student in a third floor classroom might have a firearm. Multiple officers responded to the school and arrested a student.

"Numerous officers from this agency responded directly to the High School and determine that a 17-year-old student had been removed from a third-floor classroom by school officials prior to the arrival of police personnel and detained within an administrative office," according to a police press release.

Dobbs Ferry School administrators would not comment Tuesday while police continue the investigation.

Police said an investigation revealed that the teen did not possess a weapon himself, but that he had told a classroom with 22 students and two teachers that "another student was in possession of a firearm."

The 17-year-old was processed at police headquarters and released with a court date set for Wednesday.
