DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Robert J. Boland of Dobbs Ferry died July 7. He was 84.
Boland was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Manhattan to Elizabeth Lynch and Thomas Boland. He worked with the Board of Legislators of Westchester County, where he served for 23 years, and on the Board of Directors at the Westchester County Medical Center. Previously, he was a senior executive with Empire Mutual for almost 30 years. He served in the 459th Field Artillery unit during the Korean War.
Boland was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Hartsdale. He served in a number of capacities there, including president of the Parish Council and in other organizations such as the Knights of Columbus and Maria Regina Parents Association.
Boland is survived by his children, Donna, Bob, Martin, Neil and Geraldine; daughters-in-law, Marie and Barbara; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Eleanor L. Boland.
Calling hours are Wednesday, July 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, July 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home Inc., 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12 with Msgr. Carney Officiating, at the Sacred Heart Church, 10 Lawton Ave., Hartsdale. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave., Hawthorne.
